Register of Beneficial Ownership Annual Report 2021

The Registrar of Beneficial Ownership published its 2021 Annual Report and some of the key points from the report were:-

Almost 217,000 (87%) of companies and 693 societies (73%) had filed beneficial ownership information with the register
28,111 companies and 77 societies registered their beneficial ownership with the RBO for the first time compared with 16,884 companies and 86 societies in 2020
7,027 Rejection/GDPR letters to data subjects whose personal details were used in failed RBO submissions (7,031 in 2020)
718 Discrepancy Notices received
1,204 Non-Compliance Notices received
RBO recommenced reminder campaign in Q3 2021 with 65,441 email reminders issued to 40,525 entities in 2021
