The Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (“ODCE”) published its last annual report before changing to the Corporate Enforcement Authority (“CEA”).
The main points from the Annual Report are:-
- 668 Liquidators’ reports received (consistent with 2020)
- 51 Company directors restricted
- 39 Company directors disqualified
- 23 directors of dissolved insolvent companies were disqualified by way of undertaking as a consequence of having allowed companies with outstanding debts to be struck off the register
- Longest disqualification of a director 16 years
- 255 aggregate in years restrictions imposed
- 213 aggregate in years disqualifications imposed
- €9.7m directors’ loans rectified
- 1029 guidance documents disseminated
- 131 Auditors’ indictable offence reports received
- 201 Complaints received
- 62 Criminal charges directed
- 12 Criminal charges where defendant convicted or facts proved
- 100% convictions secured/facts proved based ion guilty pleas
- 8 search warrants executed
- 8 arrests
- 6 voluntary cautioned interviews
