CRO Annual Report

The CRO published its Annual Report for 2019 and we have set out some of the key points from the annual report.

  • 232,949 companies on the Register
  • 95% of companies up to date with the filing of annual returns at the year end
  • 687 Sec 343 District Court Applications, 602 Order granted, 26 applications were refused & 55 applications were withdrawn
  • 13 reports of unregistered auditors attempting to file false auditors reports
  • 22,723 new companies incorporated, a 1.3% increase on 2018. Average of 1,894 new companies per month which is the highest number in history of the State
  • 5,068 involuntary strike off which is a 33% decrease on 2018
  • 6,025 voluntary strike off which is a 9.4% increase
  • 443 companies were restored to the register a 23% decrease
  • 56 companies prosecuted by CRO for failure to file annual returns, 28 cases convicted & Probation Act applied in 20 cases, fines ranged from €250 to €3,000
  • CRO received €17.6 million in 2019 a decrease of 10.6%, 12130 companies paid late filing fees in 2019 with a average fee of €616
  • 5 companies reported that Proper Books were not kept
