We highlighted recently that the Companies House were introducing new identity verification for company directors and PSC’s. The identity verification requirements commence on 18 November 2025.

We have set out below who is required to be verified and how these persons may be verified.

Who Needs to Be Verified

• Directors (or equivalent)
• People with significant control (PSCs)
• Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs)
• Other roles (to be introduced at a later date)

What You Need to be Verified

• A biometric passport – all Irish passports issued since 2010 are biometric
• your current address, and the year you moved in
• to sign in to or create a GOV.UK One Login https://signin.account.gov.uk/sign-in-or-create

o Create an account
o Sign into the account
o Download the ID verification app
o Use your passport to verify

Personal Code
Once your identity has been verified you will be issued with an 11 character personal code to be used when making filings with the Companies House. The code is individual to you and must be kept safe for future use.

When is a Personal Code Required?

The main requirement for the personal code will be:-

• If you’re currently a director, you’ll need to provide your personal code in your company’s next confirmation statement filing from 18 November 2025.

• If you become a director from 18 November 2025 onwards, you’ll need to provide it as part of your appointment filing or when you incorporate a company.

• If you’re both a director and a PSC of the same company, you’ll need to provide your personal code separately for each role.

o As a director, you must provide the code in the company’s confirmation statement.

o As a PSC, you must provide it using a separate service within 14 days of your company’s confirmation statement date. This service will be available when the requirement comes into force on 18 November 2025.
